Daiichi Institute of Technology has an admission policy to "admit various types of students with good sprit of inquiry to engineering, interest in relations between Human/Society/Nature and technologies, and enough heart to challenge everything" based on its foundation motto “Development of individuality" and its basic principle “Nurturing creative engineers through development of individuality".
In this context, the Institute carries out selection of students by providing various types of entrance examinations stated below to evaluate the aptitude and nature, not only the academic achievement.
Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering
Department of Aeronautical Engineering
Professional Pilot Course
This course is aimed at the acquisition of three national qualifications necessary to become an airline pilot. To provide the knowledge required for the theory examinations for FAA and JCAB private pilot license (PPL). To acquire the private pilot license, students will be trained and study in the United States for six months. JCAB commercial pilot license (CPL) and the instrument flight rating (IFR) training will be completed in Kagoshima campus where Kagoshima airport is located.
Aircraft Maintenance Technician Course
To provide the knowledge required for the theory examinations for the license of the second class aircraft mechanics.
Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering Course
In this course students will acquire the fundamental knowledge and the skill of aerospace technology to nurture broad adaptability and creativity on aeronautical engineering along with further technology of aerospace engineering to nurture applicability and creativity required for aerospace engineers.
Faculty of Engineering
Department of Electronics and Informatics
Information Science and Intelligent Systems Networking Course
Electronic components are built in equipment used in our daily life such as smart phone and digital camera. In this course, we nurture "Electronics Engineers" with capability of designing and developing such electronic components. In addition to developing electronic components we also nurture "Information Engineers" such as programmers and system engineers with capability of developing various types of equipment which contain software to operate its own system.
Control Systems Engineering Course
Today, we use various electrically programmed gadgets such as robotic vacuums, air conditioning, car satellite navigation systems. In this course, we nurture Engineers with capability of designing, developing, maintaining and operating such tools which start from learning the basics of microcomputer applications.
Informatics and Business Course (Tokyo Ueno Campus)
In this course students will learn with many international students: communication skills essential in terms of global competence, business model development methodology including innovation and technology strategies, as well as the latest ICT (information and communication technology).
Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering
Mechanical Engineering Course
To nurture engineers with capability of exploring further expert knowledge in the fields of mechanical engineering.
Automobile Engineering Course
To nurture professional knowledge on different types of vehicles and to achieve the second class automobile mechanics familiar with automobile engineering.
Medical and Assistive Robotics Course
To nurture medical engineering specialists familiar with engineering technology related to medical and welfare fields with capability of understanding state-of-the-art technologies in information-technology industries as well as familiar with mechatronics and system engineering.
Department of Environmental Engineering
Infrastructure System Course
To provide the knowledge about designing and maintenance of social infrastructure systems such as roads, bridges, harbors, airports, railways, and dams, to nurture construction engineers to enhance social infrastructures.
Sustainable Resources Engineering Course
To provide the technologies about designing and construction of water production systems (waterworks) and water purification systems (sewage), to nurture environment creators familiar with water environment.
This course also provide classes on technological applications of city, greening, and characteristics of trees, taking account of the correlation between social infrastructure and green area, to nurture green engineering specialists to be involved with construction work.
Plant Science and Biotechnology Course
To provide the basic knowledge and skills related to plants and ecosystem, to learn the state-of-the-art technology, such as biotechnology and agricultural information engineering. Students will be trained to become the agriculture industry managers and engineers of the next generation in cooperation with engineering and agriculture.
Department of Architecture and Design
Architectural Design Course
To nurture professionals with capability of designing various architectural spaces and drawing designs, such as streetscape coexisting with the environment.
Interior Design Course
To nurture professionals with capability of designing living art and interior/decoration including creating goods to live comfortably at home. To nurture engineers with capability of designing welfare living environment, including housing in which ordinary healthy persons, elderly, and handicapped persons can live healthfully and safely.
Architectural Structure and Engineering Course

Kirishima City, the secondary largest city of Kagoshima Prefecture, is featured by rich nature including "Kirishima Mountains", firstly designated as National Park in Japan, and ancient historical culture including "Kirishima Shrine" designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. It is also highlighted as a modern town with high-tech industrial clusters. In such wonderful educational environment, we promote human education by developing individuality.
Kirishima Hot Springs Village consists of eight small and large hot springs welling up from the bosom of the Kirishima Mountain and is famous for a place where Ryoma Sakamoto and his wife Oryo stayed. It abounds in tourists all year round.
Daiichi Institute of Technology is located in the center of Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, on the southernmost part of Kyusyu island. The population of Kirishima is over 120,000.
